The Simba Hybrid Duvet Review – The perfect duvet if your dog likes to sleep in bed with you!

Dogs sleeping in bed with humans is one of those rare things that some pet parents can disagree on, but in our house my spaniels are free to hop in if they want to. Lucia loves to cuddle up so sometimes she takes the opportunity and I’m not going to lie she can be a duvet hog and I often used to wake up with hardly any duvet covering me or boiling hot due to her extra warmth. I say used to because The Simba Hybrid Duvet has actually transformed my sleep quality and that of my partner too.

I went for the Kingsize 10.5 tog version, which Simba describes as their “year-round” option, and that feels pretty accurate. From the first night, it hit that perfect balance: warm and cosy without making the bed feel stuffy or heavy. It’s the kind of duvet that settles gently over you, rather than pinning you down, and somehow manages to feel both snug and breathable at the same time.

One of the things that makes this duvet different is what’s inside it. It’s filled with a blend of Simba Renew Bio™ – which is a soft, fluffy fibre made from recycled PET bottles, and what they call Stratos® active temperature-regulating tech. Sounds fancy, but what it basically means is that it works to keep your body at a comfortable temperature all night long. You don’t get that clammy overheating feeling, and you’re not left cold and reaching for an extra blanket either. It’s that clever middle ground that not many duvets manage to get right.

The cover fabric is also worth a mention. It’s made from BCI cotton (Better Cotton Initiative), which means it’s sourced more sustainably. The cotton itself feels lovely and smooth, cool to the touch, but soft enough that you could use it without a duvet cover if you really wanted to. I do use one (obviously not in the pictures!) but it’s nice knowing that underneath it all, the quality is just as good.

One thing I really appreciate, and you’ll know what I mean if you’ve ever battled with a duvet that goes weird and lumpy is the stitched box construction. The duvet is stitched into evenly sized squares, which keeps the filling spread out and evenly distributed. No more cold spots or bunching, even after washing. Everything stays exactly where it should be, and the duvet looks just as good on the bed as it feels when you’re in it. It is that bit easier to put a cover on it too, which is a big positive!
The Simba Sleep Hybrid Duvet comes complete with a handy carry big, so convenient if you want to store it or take it on a dog-friendly holiday with you – if you know, you know!!

Washing-wise, it’s machine washable at 40 degrees. It’s not one of those huge, awkward-to-clean duvets that you have to drag to a laundrette and hope for the best! Obviously being able to wash the duvet at home is a real advantage if like me you co-sleep with your dog as we tend to wash bedding a lot more frequently than most!! I’ve washed mine once so far to test it and it held its shape beautifully, no clumping, no shifting – just a fresh, fluffy duvet straight out of the machine. It dried really quickly too, although to be fair it was a heatwave in the UK at the time.

And a quick note on the brand itself,  Simba is a certified B Corp, which means they meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility. I always think that’s worth highlighting, especially when you’re spending a bit more on something like bedding. It’s good to know the company’s values line up with making thoughtful, sustainable choices.

So would I recommend it? Absolutely. It’s comfortable, cleverly designed, and genuinely feels like a step up from the average duvet. If you’re after something that will keep you cosy without roasting you, stays put a lot better when your dog is moving around and is kind to the planet,  I don’t think you will find better than the Simba Hybrid Duvet, I am so impressed I’m definitely going to order some pillows soon and it’s spaniel approved too!
