If you’re anything like me, your dog isn’t just a pet. They’re a full-blown member of the family. My dogs are my little shadows, and if I can take them with me I do, whether I’m popping to the shops, heading out on a hike, or off on a dog-friendly trip away. In fact I think one of the greatest joys of having a dog is watching them take in new places, ears pricked, nose working overtime, tail wagging, it honestly brings me so much happiness. My spaniels get super excited when they know they are going in the car and it is important to me that they continue seeing it as a positive experience, so their comfort and safety is a priority.
In fact I believe that comfortable, safe travel for your dogs is not something that you should compromise on and that is why I really rate the Tavo Crispin Pet Travel Crate that we have recently been lucky enough to test.
The Tavo Crispin Pet Travel Crate is one of the most well designed dog travel crates on the market and can accommodate pets up to 25 kg. Crucially, when it comes to safe pet travel, it has been impact-tested , meeting the United Nations ECE child restraint standard R129. (Tavo are owned by Nuna Baby) It features integrated ISOFIX connectors and a top tether to securely fasten the crate to your vehicle’s seat, minimising movement during sudden stops. Additionally, the Side Impact Protection absorbs energy to enhance safety.
Style and comfort have been in no way compromised despite this attention to detail though. The crate looks (and is) high quality and is made of premium materials. The crate has mesh panels on all sides to provide plenty of ventilation and visibility, which helps dogs feel more at ease and I actually feel that my spaniel Lucia has enjoyed having a bit of privacy on car rides, cossetted up in the crate, to decompress after expending untold amounts of energy on adventures. The mesh panels also allow full visibility so your dog can see everything that is going on, so they don’t miss out on anything.
It comes with two crate mats, one that matches the outer fabric and another that is plush and soft. and both mats are machine washable for easy cleaning, kind of essential when you consider the kind of activities dogs find fun!
One thing I really like about the Tavo Crispin is that it is so wonderfully easy to assemble and fit. You simply take it out of the provided carry bag that you can easily store the crate in when it is disassembled, zip it up and click it into place in the car. There is a strong carry handle on top too, which makes life a lot easier when you’re putting it in and out of the car. Oh and the crate even comes with a dust protector bag, that speaks volumes to me about how much thought has been put into every aspect of the design of this product.
My dogs like the crate so much that I haven’t actually packed it away that often in the couple of months we have been testing it, the design is so sleek it doesn’t look out of place in the home and the spaniels choose it to nap in quite often. Maybe being clever. crafty spaniels they are hinting for me to take them on a road trip though – I don’t know.
As I said earlier the Tavo Pet Travel Crate is designed for dogs up to 25kg, now Lucia who has been the test dog for this product weighs just a tad over 10kg so she had plenty of room to stretch out, turn round etc, and the only slight reservation I have about this crate is whether or not a 25kg dog would find it comfortable on long journeys. Think it would probably depend on their body shape, but if your dog is on the larger size I guess you could always pop into Halfords and check it out.
My dogs are not shy when it comes to going to pubs etc but if your dog is, the Tavo Crispin is so easy to get in and out of the car it would make a perfect den for them to relax in while you have a drink and a bite to eat. Honestly I am so impressed with it, so many safety features packed in but so light and easy to handle.
OK so the Tavo Crispin Pet Travel Crate is not the cheapest on the market, but I have learnt over the years, you get what you pay for and after thoroughly testing this dog crate with Lucia I can confidently say it is worth the money and will tick every box for safety conscious dog parents.
