Protect Your Dog Against Ticks and Fleas Naturally – Toldi Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs Review

For someone who is a real advocate for natural products it’s a bit of a paradox that I have until now chosen to protect my dogs from ticks and fleas by using a conventional, chemical based product. I don’t know why, I guess it’s because ticks carry so many serious diseases, including Canine Babesiosis and Lyme disease (which can affect humans too) and fleas can be the culprit of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) and anaemia in dogs as well as making them uncomfortable and itchy that I wanted to be sure that my girls were adequately protected.
Recently though I have become more and more uncomfortable with my choice of flea and tick prevention due to the amount of chemicals they contain so when Toldi Pets reached out to me and asked if we would like to trial their Flea & Tick Collar for Dogs it was perfect timing – I was ready to try a change.

Toldi Pets are a family owned business and decided to combine their love of animals with their passion for eco-friendly and natural products to create a Flea & Tick Collar that was an effective yet safe way to protect our four legged friends.
I like the collar a lot, it is veterinary approved and is a lovely purple colour, perhaps inspired by one of the ingredients, lavender, which incidentally has a calming effect on dogs.
One size fits all, the collar is 25 inches long and you simply fit it to your pooch and cut off the excess.
I really appreciate that it is quite narrow as my girls are quite petite. The girls seem to find the collar comfortable to wear as it is made of a high quality plasticizer and is quite soft and flexible. The product is water proof, just as well if you have spaniels and so far they have proved very durable and more importantly effective. The collar is suitable for all breeds of dogs and puppies from the age of 7 weeks and provides up to 8 months of protection.

Toldi only use natural ingredients in the production of their collars, Citronella, Lavender Oil, Peppermint Oil, Lemon Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Clove Oil the combination of which apparently confuses the insects sensory input system so they avoid your pet. Your dog will become fully protected against pesky ticks and fleas after wearing the collar for just 24 hours. While price is not a consideration to me when it comes to my dogs health it’s worth mentioning that the collar is also a very cost effective way of protecting our pets and  is available to buy from Amazon and Ebay.  Generously Toldi Pet have given us a 20% discount code which can be used for both Dog and Cat collars at Amazon until 01/01/2021 – use code woofwag20 to benefit from this great offer.

There’s a lot to weigh up when you’re choosing a product to prevent your dog against ticks and fleas, conventional pharmaceutical products have been reported to cause seizures and other unpleasant side effects in a small minority of dogs but I have to admit that I have never had to remove a tick from my girls whilst they have been on it.
A natural product like the Toldi collar seems to be a much safer option in that regard as who wants to subject their dog’s systems to chemicals they don’t need.  My only personal reservation was that my dogs don’t usually wear collars indoors and I was slightly worried about them getting caught up on something during rough play, reassuringly though the collar is designed in such a way that it will snap if your dog gets it caught on something and it’s for that reason it cannot be used as a conventional collar on walks,.
Choosing how to protect our dogs and cats (did I mention that Toldi do a Flea & Tick collar for cat’s too?) against fleas and ticks is probably one of the most difficult decisions we must make as pet parents, but choose we must because ticks are everywhere and the population is increasing in the UK – they could even be in your back garden!
Personally I am definitely going to stick with the Toldi collar for now and if it proves to be as effective as my previous choice (and so far it has) it will be amazing as I would infinitely prefer to use a natural product.

Check out the Toldi Pets website to find out more if you are interested in protecting your dog against ticks and fleas more naturally and remember friends you can get 20% off a dog or cat collar at Amazon using our code woofwag20.

I love the idea of natural products for dogs, I’ve found Beco, a natural toy range, and several other products but never thought of healthcare.
Thanks for sharing this review, I will definitely be looking into it!
